Felt 1 urges the viewer to encounter spatial limitations, unfamiliar materials, and the body. It forces the body into a counterintuitive, vaguely uncomfortable space. The audio is a series of low, dissonant sounds and frequencies. Viewers must submit to unfamiliar constraints in order to wear the headphones comfortably. They are faced with the challenge of navigating, encountering, and interpreting this viscerally disruptive situation.

Performance with wood burnings and a piezo contact microphone. I used the contact mic to “play” the burned markings and explore the range of sounds the various textures could produce. I tried to move past the decorate aspects of the mark making process. The burnings undulated between organic, aesthetic designs and purposeful noise making systems.
